Dr. Kurt Schaunacher, head of the German Social Democratic Party, today informed the Munich Branch that “the executive of the party has heard with deep regret” that Social Democratic representatives in the Munich administration have voted for ban on Shochita. “With this action you have joined in the agitation of the ant-semitic movement,” the communication said. “The executive considers this ban impossible from religious and political points of view and urges you to follow the line of the general party policy and the Socialist International on this question.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Rabbinate of the American zone of Germany has asked the Jerusalem Chief Rabbinate and Agudas Israel Orthodox Organization to take steps towards preventing the Shechita ban.
