A local court convicted Hans Paul Rabe a 58-year-old waiter, of libel and public condonation of crimes for insulting a fellow townsman by calling him a “dirty Jew whom Hitler forgot to gas.
The court sentenced Rabe to six months imprisonment, rejecting a defense motion for a suspended sentence. “It it in the public interest that punishment be executed,” the judge declared.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior of the province of North Rhine-Westphalia posted a 10,000 mark reward for information leading to the arrest of people responsible for painting swastikas on churches and public buildings in Dortmund and Horn. The Dortmund Jewish center was not touched.
In Bad Hersfeld, a court suspended a two-month sentence on a local scrapdealer who was convicted of libel in a similar case. He told a butcher that he would not “buy anything from a half-Jew. “‘
