The twenty-second annual convention of the Zionist Organization of Germany opened here Monday. Representatives of the municipal government, the state government and the Jewish community, welcomed the delegates.
A message from Dr. Weizmann, sent from the steamer, was read. The message expressed the Zionist leader’s hope that with the successful conclusion of the Jewish Agency Commission’s session in London, a period of new reconstruction work in Palestine will be ushered in.
The annual report submitted by Kurt Blumenfeld initiated a discussion on the advisability of reorganization. Two views are contending within the ranks of German Zionists. Some favor decentralization which would permit the various factions of the Zionist body to function separately but be coordinated externally, while others urge the continuation of the present unified system. The latter view seems to have the support of an overwhelming majority.
