Jewish property valued at about 1,780,000,000 kronen, approximately $356,000,000, has been confiscated by the German occupation authorities in Denmark, it is reported here. The property was left behind by Jews who fled to Sweden or who were deported to Germany. A large number of apartments in which Jews formerly dwelt have also been seized by the Nazis, the report adds.
Danish sources here disclose that anti-Nazi Danes have proclaimed a boycott of persons who helped the Gestapo to arrest and deport the Jews. These sources say that arrests are still being made in Copenhagen. Fifteen Jews found hiding in the homes of non-Jews were arrested this week. The Swedish authorities here, meanwhile, have granted licenses to practice to a number of Danish Jewish doctors, engineers and other technicians.
