Intensified German activities against Jews in France were reported here today by central Jewish organizations, while Swiss newspapers reaching here from Geneva indicated that the Gestapo, aided by French police, have resumed rounding-up Jews in various French cities and villages where they have been hiding in order to avoid deportation to Poland.
The Journal de Geneve reports that twenty Jewish children who had been living with peasants in Thonon, the northern part of Haute Savoie, were arrested this week and taken in German military cars to an “unknown destination.” Arrestz of Jewish children by the Germans are reported also from other parts of the Haute Savoie region, which is a hideout for many Jews and French partisans.
