A conflict over the use of the swastika emblem resulted in the withdrawal of the German delegation which had planned to march during the Parade of Nations at the Tercentenary Pageant at the Baltimore Stadium. Originally scheduled to open Friday night, the pageant was postponed owing to rain.

The German delegation of five men and five women was withdrawn by Acting Consul Frederick P. Schneider after Dr. Matthew Page Andrews, chairman of the Maryland Tercentenary Commission of Baltimore had requested the swastika not be displayed.
