The West German trade delegation which yesterday began meeting with Arab political leaders in an attempt to offset Arab hostility to German payment of reparations to Israel and the Jews, has given no indication that the Germans have any new proposals to put to the Arabs nor that they intend to abrogate the reparations pact, it was reported in Cairo dispatches today.
The reports from the Egyptian capital quoted Ahmed Shukairi, assistant secretary general of the Arab League, who attended the parley, as stating that the meeting opened with both sides making statements stressing traditional ties between the Germans and the Arabs. This was all the progress made at yesterday’s preliminary session, Mr. Shukairi indicated.
