Stronger persecution of the Jews was urged by Dr. Paul Goebbels, the Reich’s Minister of Propaganda and Popular Enlightenment, in an inflammatory address before a mass meeting here last night. “We exercise too great mildness toward the Jews,” Minister Goebbels declared. “They do not deserve it. The Jews are our enemies.”

The chief propagandist of the Nazi administration pointed out that the government’s weakness in permitting itself to be gentle toward the Jews was evidenced in the fact that the complete boycott of Jewish business was only conducted for a single day. The brevity of the boycott was pictured as indicating a regrettable leniency in the German temperament. More stringent measures were urged for the future.
