Germany Jewish Leader Stressed Need to Remind Germans of Nazi Crimes

Because there is “an attempt to wipe out all memory art to falsify history, ” it is incumbent upon all to continue reminding Germany “of the horrible crimes committed by the Nazis, ” Dr. H.G. Van Dam. Secretary general of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, declared yesterday at a commemorative ritual conducted at the site of the wartime Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

Prayers for the dead. Christian as well as Jewish, exterminated at Bergen-Belsen, were recited by Christian and Jewish clergymen. Heinrich Kopf. Deputy Minister President of Lower Saxony, officially represented the State Government, paying tribute to the memory of “those who gave their lives in the struggle against Nazi tyranny.”
