The German Government, charging Slovakia a $300 “deportation fee” for each Jew ousted from the country, has presented a bill for 700,000,000 crowns – approximately $20,000,000 – to the Government of Slovakia to defray the cost of the deportation of 65,000 Slovakian Jews, it was reported here today by the Czechoslovakian Government-in-Exile.
The Slovak parliament, the report said, has approved the request of the Minister of Finance for payment of the bill. The Slovakian press expressed the hope that the money will be refunded from the sale of confiscated Jewish propert.
