Germany’s Education Ministry gave $50,000 to a German university to “rebuild” on the Internet three German synagogues destroyed during the Holocaust. Up to 15 German synagogues may eventually be rebuilt as a result of the program. The virtual synagogues are highly detailed, three-dimensional renderings put together from blueprints, photos and descriptions by people who worshiped at them.
