Renewed anti-Jewish terror is reported today to have been launched throughout the Czech Protectorate as part of the Gestapo reprisals against the Czech people for the shooting of Reinhard Heydrich, deputy chief of the Gestapo.
Two Jewish women were executed yesterday, one in Prague and the other in Brno. In Prague, Margaretta Baumgarten, thirty-two years old was executed on unspecified charges, while in Brno, Alexandra Broidu, forty-three, was shot for refusing to give information concerning a person whom she was alleged to have sheltered after the attack on Heydrich.
At the same time, the Cesko Slovo, a Prague newspaper reaching here today, reports that illegal leaflets are being distributed throughout the Czech Protectorate branding as “national traitors” all those who indulge in anti-Jewish activities or propaganda.
