Health Minister Victor Shemtov told the Knesset yesterday that he could do nothing to stop doctors charging exorbitant fees to tourists who seek medical help. Answering a Parliamentary question from Labor Knesseter Zena Harman, Shemtov said there was no legislation under which he could control this phenomenon. The Israel Medical Association, he said, had asked him to table a bill giving the Association’s Ethical Practices Committee the same disciplinary powers over members as those enjoyed by the Bar Association over lawyers.
