Gideon Raphael Named Israel’s Permanent Representative to U.N.

The Foreign Ministry officially announced today appointment of Gideon Raphael, currently its deputy director-general, as head of Israel’s delegation to the United Nations, succeeding Ambassador Michael Comay, who is returning to the Foreign Ministry at his own request.

The Ministry’s legal adviser, Dr. Shabtai Rosenne, was named deputy head of the delegation with the rank of Ambassador.

Sholomo Hillel, a member of Israel’s U.N. delegation, has been appointed deputy director-general of the Ministry and head of the Ministry’s Middle East department replacing Mordechai Gazit. Hanan Yavor was named to replace Hillel at the U.N.
