Louis Gilrod, well-known writer of Jewish theatrical lyrics and actor, died Wednesday morning in the Brooklyn Harbor Hospital at the age of 52. The funeral took place yesterday morning under the auspices of the Jewish Actors’ Union and Theatrical Alliance, of which Gilrod was a member.
Mr. Gilrod, who was born in Russia, wrote some of the most popular Yiddish songs for operatta and vaudeville. His most recent lyrics were composed for “The Jolly Orphan,” in which Molly Picon starred.
