Gives $35,000 for Research at Chicago University

A gift of $75,000 to the University of Chicago to be applied to studying diseases of the pituitary glands was made by John D.Hertz of Chicago, it was announced by the university.

Dr. Russell M. Wilder of the Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minn., was appointed Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago, to succeed Dr. Franklin C. McLean who on June 1st becomes director of the University Clinic. A scholarship at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem is planned by the Canadian Young Judaea, which will inaugurate a drive for $5,000 for this purpose on April 1st. The Canadian Young Judaean scholarship will be awarded in the Institute of Jewish Studies, to the most deserving student in the greatest need of support.
