Der Angriff, mouthpiece of Propaganda Minister Paul Joseph Goebbels, started publication today of a series of front-page articles on the Gustloff case.

Today’s article features the usual Nazi allegations, including the charge that Gustloff, Swiss Nazi leader who was slain by a Jewish medical student last February, was murdered “by order of world Jewry.” David Frankfurter, self-confessed assassin, is to stand trial for the crime, which he explained as one of vengeance against Nazi persecution of Jews, on Dec. 9 in Chur, Switzerland.

Der Angriff states tomorrow’s articles will be devoted to a description of the judges who will preside at the trial and other personalities connected with the case. It predicts Frankfurter will be sentenced to “only a few years imprisonment” and will be pardoned within a short time on account of his health.

The Nazis are preparing to hold a huge Gustloff memorial meeting at Schwerin, at which a statue to him as a “martyr” will be unveiled. Chancellor Hitler is expected to participate in the ceremonies, which are scheduled to be held immediately after the trial. The meeting is expected to mark the opening of a new and more severe anti-Jewish propaganda campaign.
