In a belated comment on the Lindberghs’ self-imposed exile, Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels has told Americans to look to conditions in their own country and not criticize Germany’s treatment of the Jews.
Addressing a meeting of 18,000 Nazis here, he stated:
“A nation whose national here, Lindbergh, is forced to live outside his own country, in which his baby has been murdered, had better look into its own affairs rather than maintain that in Germany Jews are being maltreated.”
Lashing out against foreign criticism of Nazi anti-Jewish measures, he declared. “If the world loves our German Jews so much, let it adopt them.”
