Israeli Premier Golda Meir today denied that she is due to meet Tunisian President Habib Bourguiba next week in Switzerland. Mrs. Meir, in an interview with the Israeli newspaper “Maariv.” said she has received no reply from Bourguiba on her offer to meet him “any time, any place.”
The Israeli Premier made this announcement after rumors in diplomatic circles claimed a meeting between the two will take place in Geneva. Bourguiba, who last month, offered to negotiate with the Israelis, is due in Geneva to address the International Labor Conference. Mrs. Meir yesterday suddenly cancelled all her public appointments saying she was “unwell.”
Diplomatic circles had claimed that the meeting had been arranged by a “third party,” presumably West Germany which had acted as a go between. West Germany has excellent relations with Tunisia and Chancellor Willy Brandt has just ended an official visit here.
