Israel Foreign Minister Golda Meir arrived here from London this morning for a visit to Belgium during which she will meet with Government officials and will continue her conferences with officials of the European Economic Community over Israel’s efforts to conclude a satisfactory trade agreement with the Common Market countries.
Addressing a luncheon in Mrs. Meir’s honor, Professor Walter Hallstein, president of the Common Market Commission, said that, like Israel, the EEC was trying to build a state but until now Israel has been more successful.
After the luncheon, Mrs. Meir had a 35-minute talk with Jean Rey, the member of the EEC Commission in charge of external affairs. They discussed organization of a third round of negotiations between Israel and the Common Market which will be discussed by the EEC Council of Ministers tomorrow. Later in the day, Mrs. Meir was received by Prime Minister Theo le Fevre. She was accompanied by Israel Ambassador Amiel Najar.
