Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister, arrived here and was received by President Prado. She was entertained by Foreign Minister Dr. Paul Porras at a luncheon and later discussed with him Israeli-Peruvian relations.
Mrs. Meir laid a wreath, portraying the Israel Menorah. at the Pantheon de Proceres before an audience of public school pupils and a military guard of honor. She then visited a hall which had served as the Central Court of Inquisition in South America where Maranos were sentenced in the 17th and 18th Centuries. She visited also the house of Emanuel Peretz, a leader of the Maranos who was burned at the stake for his secret adherence to Judaism.
