Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister, will make a two-day stopover in London, en route to the United Nations, for talks with British Cabinet members and leading figures of the British Jewish community. Officially, however, her visit will be “private.”
Arrangements for her meetings with Cabinet members may include talks with Michael Stewart, the British Foreign Secretary who will be returning form Warsaw, and with George Thomson, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. Mr. Thomson is scheduled to leave shortly afterwards for Cairo and Rhiad. Since there are no specific urgent problems now between Britain and Israel, Mrs. Meir’s talks are expected to be of a general nature about issues likely to arise at the General Assembly, where she will head the Israeli delegation.
