Abraham Goldberg, Zionist leader and journalist, back from Palestine, clarified to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today the report of an interview with him concerning the projected World Jewish Congress cabled from Paris Oct. 30.
He pointed out that through an error in transmission a meeting of certain executives of the Committee of Jewish Delegations was made to appear a meeting of the Executive. These executives did, as reported, he said, emphasize the necessity of holding the Congress in 1936.
The cabled statement that he was instructed to inform American-Jewish leaders that European Jews would not insist on democratic elections for the Congress was characterized by Mr. Goldberg as a mistake in emphasis. It was true, he said, that the executives told him that as long as the delegates were chosen in some fair and authoritative manner there would be no insistence on the precise method.
Mr. Goldberg showed the J.T.A. representative a letter from Dr. Nahum Goldmann lauding the interview as it originally appeared in the Paris J.T.A. bulletin.
