Dr. Nahum Goldmann praised here today the Jewish communities throughout the world “which have rallied magnificently to the cause of Israel” but he added a warning that Jewry must “continue to be on the alert” to help Israel “achieve a just, honorable and lasting peace.” The world Zionist leader, who plans to go to Israel Sunday, came here from Bonn, where he met with West German Chancellor Kurt Kiesinger.
Dr. Goldmann said that Israel had been “impelled” to go to war to resist and defend itself against aggressors and that it sought “no more than the unmolested preservation of the Jewish State and the maintenance of its security,” to “live in peace and freedom and in harmony with all its Arab neighbors.” He added that “this solemn purpose is not yet assured.”
