Goldmuntz Center, a four-story building for Jewish cultural, artistic and communal events, financed by a legacy of Romi Goldmuntz, an Antwerp philanthropist, was formally opened here. Additional funds for the center were provided by the Joint Distribution Committee and the Conference of Material Claims Against Germany. The Mayor, Cabinet Ministers and celebrities attended the ceremony. The center chairman is Leo Malersdorf, a friend of the late philanthropist, who counselled the Belgian Government for many years on matters pertaining to the diamond industry.
