Jewish sources reported today that the trial of Soviet Jewish engineer Aleksander Gorbach on charges of ” engaging in private undertakings” has been definitely set for tomorrow in Vinnitea, a Ukrainian city some 340 miles southwest of his home city of Kharkov. The evidence against Gorbach, 35, consists of applications for migration to Israel and writings on Jewish themes–all, according to the sources, confiscated on an unauthorized search, The sources said the authorities interrogated 90 persons with a view toward having them appear as prosecution witnesses, but none agreed to incriminate Gorbach. The defendant himself. the sources said, was denied the opportunity to summon witnesses in his behalf. The Judge was reported identified by the surname Armak, the chief investigator is Morgunov and the director of investigation Ptitzin, Meanwhile, sources said that nine Jews convicted in the second Leningrad trial will file their appeals July 20 in the Supreme Court of the Russian Republic.
