Cupid has been extremely busy these last few weeks, tying knots for some of the prettiest brides of the season. On June 26 Miss Anne Brody, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Brody of New York, was married to Moe Schiff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Schiff, also of New York. The ceremony took place at the Broadway Central Hotel and the bride looked charming in a sumptuous bridal gown with a most unusual veil arrangement.
The young couple sailed Thursday on the S. S. Haiti for a cruise to the West Indies. On their return they will make their home in this city.
News came also from Schenectady of the little love god’s activities. The lovely Miss Shirley Diamond, daughter of Mrs. Rose Diamond, was married to H. Edward Weinstein of Troy last Sunday afternoon at the Temple Beth El in Troy. Following the wedding the couple left for a cruise on their yacht, the Abbar.
The new Mrs. Weinstein was graduated this year from the State Teachers’ College at Albany. The groom is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and conducts the Tri-City Yacht Basin in Watervliet, N. Y. , where he and his bride will make their home.
Great Neck looks forward with happy anticipation to the event of the summer season: the wedding of Miss Jane Recht, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Rech of New York and Great Neck, to Meyer P. Schweitzer, son of Mrs. Peter J. Schweitzer. The ceremony is scheduled for next Thursday afternoon at the beautiful home of the bride’s parents in Great Neck, Steamboat Road. Rabbi Isaac Landman will officiate and the wedding itself will be an outdoor affair, taking place on the lawn of the estate.
More than 100 guests are expected to attend. Among them we note Judge and Mrs. Myron P. Sulzberger, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Sapiro, Judge and Mrs. Albert Kahn and Sam Rosoff. Mrs. Boris Grinberg of Milan, Italy, a sister of the groom, will be present with her young daughter, Simonne. After a three weeks’ sojourn in Canada the young couple will return to Great Neck for the rest of the summer.
Summer loses its scorching terrors when it can be spent in so lovely a place as Oak Island, the summer retreat of Mr. and Mrs. Allie S. Fried. Oak Island is something of an enchanted isle. Imagine a home completely encircled by a woodland brook that ensures to the happy denizens of this little paradise a peace and a privacy which no curious trespassers can disturb. However, the magic wand of Charity will throw open this retreat to the public, for in the interest of their philanthropic activities Mr. and Mrs. Fried plan several Federation and anti-Nazi gatherings on their estate.
Unperturbed by the gathering clouds on the political horizon of Europe, Mr. and Mrs. David Sarnoff, who have been traveling on the Continent since early June, will complete their stay in Carlsbad, where they arrived last week for their annual cure. Later on they will proceed to Paris and Lake Como.
