Gov. Herbert H. Lehman will be guest of honor at the second performance of the Maccabean Festival scheduled to take place at Madison Square Garden this Saturday night. It will be his first public appearance since his recovery from a recent illness.
A letter received from the Governor by Morris Margulies, general chairman of the arrangements, read.
“I greatly appreciate your invitation to me to be the guest of honor at the Maccabean Festival. I need not tell you that nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be with you on this occasion, as I have so frequently been in the past. I am anxious to come to the Festival in the Garden and greet my many friends.”
Mr. Margulies announced that the affair would be in the nature of a Jewish thanksgiving service for the Governor’s recovery.
