Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller, a Republican, has called on the Republican national administration to provide Israel with sufficient military aid to “balance the scales” in the Mideast. It is “my own firm conviction,” he told the United Hias Service 86th annual meeting yesterday that “Israel’s strength, Israel’s security, Israel’s survival” are “vital to the free world,” and that immediate military assistance is “absolutely imperative.” The Hias presented Gov. Rockefeller with this year’s Liberty Award.
