Prime Minister Eshkol announced tonight that the Government has given the green light for the establishment of a Nahal strong point near the Dead Sea, near the site of the former Kibbutz Beit Haarava which was destroyed by the Jordanians during Israel’s war for independence in 1948. Nahal is a para-military youth organization which works the land and establishes frontier outposts under the aegis of the Israel Army. Mr. Eshkol told the Knesset that the new strong-point will be called Nahal Kallia. It is one of 17 approved by the Government out of 24 applications by Nahal groups.
