The greetings and thanks of the French Government to French ORT were brought to the organization last night by Minister of State Louis Jacquinot. The occasion was the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the World ORT Union and the 40th anniversary of the French ORT.
The French official said that the French Government, which has supported the work of ORT both materially and spiritually since the war, found the activities of ORT a great boost to the French economy and a help in developing efficient workers in various technical trades.
The French ORT now has more than 3,000 students and apprentices in its schools in Paris, Montreuil, Strasbourg, Lyons and Marseilles. Daniel Mayer, president of the World ORT Union executive, reviewed the worldwide program of the organization. He said that ORT was performing one of the most important tasks in the world today–proving that the Jew is as capable of productive work as any other person in the world.
