The Draft Ordinance of the Vaad Leumi as originally proposed, will not be ratified by the Palestinian Government, according to an announcement of the Agudas Israel office here. It was stated that the delegation of the Agudah which visited Geneva during the session of the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations understood from their conversations with the High Commissioner of Palestine and other authoritative persons that the ordinance would not be promulgated.
It is hoped that the wishes of the Agudas Israel and the Ashkenazic Jerusalem community may yet in some way be met. Meanwhile, the General Executive of the Agudas Israel World Organization has decided to continue its opposition to the Draft Ordinance of the Vaad Leumi, and has placed its alternative draft proposals before the High Commissioner of Palestine and the British Government.
