Governor-Elect Herbert H. Lehman issued the following statement when informed he had won in the State election:
“I am deeply grateful to the people of the State for the wonderful vote they have given me. I shall try to merit the confidence they have shown me.
“The personal satisfaction that has come to me through my election is tempered by my sense of obligation and by the great responsibility that has been imposed on me. I can promise the people of the State that I deeply feel that responsibility and that I will give the best that is in me to discharge it satisfactorily.”
