GOVERNOR LEHMAN, ADDRESSING 800 PERSONS AT THE HOTEL ASTOR, DESCRIBED CONTEMPORARY JEWISH YOUTH AS “GROPING AND CONFUSED” AND HELD THAT THE BEST WAY TO COMBAT ANTI-SEMITISM “IS TO SHOW THAT OUR RELIGION STANDS FOR THE ETHICAL PRINCIPLES THAT MAKE FOR GOOD CITIZENSHIP.”
