Governor Fred W. Green of the State of Michigan, in a statement issued on Thursday, heartily endorsed the Allied Jewish Campaign to be launched in Detroit at a dinner Sunday evening. His statement reveals a deep understanding of the problems in the campaign. The statement by Gov. Green said:
“To no people in the world has the post-war period brought more serious problems of readjustment than to the Jews. In Palestine and throughout Eastern and part of Central Europe great Jewish populations have been subjected to conditions that are inconceivable to us in America.
“That the Jews of America and of Michigan especially should contribute toward the reestablishment of the peaceful lives of their oppressed kinsmen, as well as for the furtherance of Jewish culture in this country, is in line with the high traditions of the Jewish people. The Allied Jewish Campaign represents both an opportunity and an obligation. It is an opportunity to aid the oppressed, such a call as Americans of all races gladly embrace.”
