Governor William A. Comstock directed a message to the State Legislature here asking that provision be made for orthodox Jews who may be prevented from voting in the primaries in September on account of the Rosh Hashonah holiday which falls on September 11.
His message said in part:
“It would appear advisable for you to amend section One, Chapter Eight, Part Four of the General Law to provide that the polls may be kept open in such instances for a sufficiently long period in the evening to permit all such people to vote.”
