Virtually all eligible members of the 1951 gradating class of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati##d New York have volunteered for service in the chaplaincy, according to an announcement today by Dr. Nelson Glueck, president. College-Institute students, like other geological students and clergymen, are exempt from military draft.
The Division of Religious Activities of the Jewish Welfare Board had been naked by the armed forces to have 111 Jewish chaplains on active duty by June 30. It is expected that these will be supplied in equal numbers from Jewish Reform, Conservative and Orthodox groups. With the mass enlistment of the eligible seniors from the College-Institute, the Reform movement comes close to total fulfillment of its third of the total goal.
