Grand Lodge 25 of B’nai B’rith has been officially installed here. It is one of 12 new lodges in four capitals established in accordance with resolutions adopted at the B’nai B’rith convention in 1967. Hermann Edelsberg, director of the International B’nai B’rith Council represented the Supreme Lodge at the installation ceremonies. He substituted for B’nai B’rith’s international president, Dr. William Wexler, who was prevented from coming to Brazil by the death of his wife. Among the official guests were the presidents of B’nai B’rith District 20 of South America and District 23 in the Caribbean area. The new lodges have attracted a high proportion of Brazilian-born Jewish professionals. They emphasize cultural, human rights and youth activities.
