The Greek Government will not recognize Israel for so long that the Jewish state will be a full-fledged state by the time recognition comes. Greek Foreign Minister Constantine Tsaldaris today declared in an interview here.
“We are in no hurry,” he said. “We have very close and friendly relations with the Arabic people. We shall wait until the truce talks are over and the Middle East situation is clearer,” Tsaldaris declared.
Earlier in the day, Alex Easterman of the World Jewish Congress met with Tsaldaris to discuss the transfer of heirless Jewish property by the Greek Government to a fund for Jewish rehabilitation, in accordance with a law passed in 1946 which has not yet been applied. The Congress and the Greek Government have been discussing the situation for the past 18 months. Tsaldaris today indicated that obstacles which have blocked implementation of the 1946 law have been removed and after his return to Greece measures will be taken to enforce the law without delay.
