The community of Castoria has been the scene of violent disorders and outrages against the Jews, which culminated yesterday with physical attacks on Jewish residents of the town. Isaac Eliaou, son of the president of the Jewish community, was severely injured by members of the EEE, the Greek Nazi organization.
With the police of the town standing by passively gangs of the EEE demonstrated throughout the town all last week, shouting, “Kill the Jews!” They desecrated Jewish cemeteries, smashed windows in homes of Jews, attacked Jewish passersby and threw the town generally into an uproar.
The failure of the police to suppress the disorders and the increasing impunity of the Greek Hitlerites has created a strong feeling of alarm among the Jewish population in the town.
