Zionists in every section of Greece were up in arms today over the action of the Jewish Agency for Palestine in failing to assign enough immigration certificates to Jews of Greece and in placing a tax of $12.50 per head on every certificate issued to a Greek Jewish family.
Owing to the economic crisis and the impoverishment of the 60,000 Jews of Salonica, certificates for Palestine are in great demand. Zionist committees in Greek provinces telegraphed an ultimatum to the central committee of the Greek Zionist Federation, threatening to secede if more certificates were not made available by tomorrow.
