A hand grenade was thrown at an Israeli military camp in the Jebaliya area near Gaza last night. There were no casualties. Israeli security forces are investigating the incident, the second since Friday when a grenade thrown at an Israeli civilian car fatally wounded an Arab boy and injured 25 Arab workers. The renewal of grenade throwing after a six-month interval of relative quiet in the Gaza area was attributed to the recent withdrawal of Israeli border police units which controlled the Gaza Strip.
The Bedouin tribes in the Negev produced a bumper crop of 40,000 tons of wheat this year following four consecutive years of drought, the Ministry of Agriculture announced. The crop represents 10 percent of Israel’s yearly wheat consumption.
