Three demands to relieve the plight of Soviet Jews were made in a letter sent to visiting Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko today by Daniel Mayer, secretary general of the European Conference on Soviet Jewry. The letter asked, “The halt of all anti-Jewish discriminatory measures which are contrary to ‘Socialist legality’; stop the defamation campaign conducted under the guise of ‘anti-Zionism’; and respect for the free travel rights of all people, especially for the right of family reunification.”
