Contributions of more than $4, 000, 000 to the $120, 000, 000, 10-year development and expansion program of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University were announced here tonight. The announcements were made at a dinner held by the college as the culmination of a series of events begun in the morning, when ground was broken for a 10-story facility, entitled the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Center for research in mental retardation and human development, to be erected on a site adjacent to the Einstein College campus the The Bronx. Mrs. Kennedy is the mother of the late President Kennedy.
Albert Parker, vice-chairman of the college overseers, announced the contributions totaling more than $4, 000, 000. Former New York State Attorney-General Nathaniel Goldstein, chairman emeritus of the board of overseers, announced a gift of $1, 000, 000 by the estate of Louis and Ida Katz toward the establishment of the Rose Kennedy center. A gift of $1, 000, 000 was also announced by the family of the late Siegfried Ullmann, to supplement $2, 000, 000 previously given by Mr. Ullmann for the Ullmann Research Center for Health Sciences on the college campus. Speakers at the various ceremonies included Mrs. Rose F. Kennedy, U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy and New York Mayor John V. Lindsay.
