A group of 20 Kurdish Jews en route to Israel from Tel Aviv has reached the Turkish town of Karakose, just over Iran’s western border, it was reported here today.
The Jews must remain there for the time being, and perhaps for several weeks, because of recent heavy snows which have blocked all roads in eastern Turkey. Thus far, some 500 Kurdish Jews have crossed the Persian-Turkish border in their movement to Israel. However, because of the severe winter weather the number has decreased drastically and will not pick up for several months.
