The U.S. Supreme Court will be asked tomorrow did restrictive real estate covenants which discriminate against religious, ra##or ethnic groups in a brief to be filed by four national Jewish organizations.
In a joint brief to be filed as “friends of the court,” the American Jewish committee, the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, the Jewish War Veterans of U.S. and the Jewish Labor Committee will challenge the practice of barring member of minority groups from the sale, ownership, lease or occupancy of private pro## as unconstitutional. They will argue that it violates “public policy” as well the “due process” clause of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitu##.
Judge Joseph M. Proskauer, president of the American Jewish Committee, and ##b Grumet, chairman of the legal committee of the Anti-Defamation League, will ## the brief on behalf of the four agencies.
