A broadside issued here by the Imperial Fascist League charges Jewish people are responsible for the two “plagues” of “real musicians,” the fox trot and crooning.
Written by Jackson Phillips, of Archer street, the paper is entitled “A Tragic Symphony” and asserts that the profession of music would be lucrative “but for the heavy hand of the Jews.”
“It is this ‘but’ which is the chief cause of unemployment,” continues the broadside, “often long and vicious, among the Englishmen in the ranks of professional musicians.
ANDANTE RELIGIOSO
“During the late War, while many of our professional musicians were serving, the opportunity was afforded the Jew, and seized upon avidly, to embark upon a profession which was then well on the way to becoming very lucrative.
“Here was another business to be taken over by Judah; another chance afforded to carry out the plan laid down by Theodor Hertzl at the Zionist Congress in Basle and summarized in the Protocols of 1897.
“It was war-time and the people at home must be amused; they must forget the horrors of a War which was engineered and brought about by the Jews.
“True; ‘Ragtime,’ with often catchy tunes and rhythms had already been imported by the same Jew tribe just previous to the War, to become by a system known as ‘boost’ (now-a-days ‘plugging’) more or less popular. Then American Jewry took the opportunity of the War to invade us with a new weapon in the form of the Fox Trot.
“This is with us still, but in a much more degraded form. They ‘croon’ it now; while the accompanying ‘lyric’ often leaves much to be desired. By this means, our younger generation has absorbed Jewish ideas of morality. Moreover, the ‘moral’ ideas of a nation which is self-confessedly responsible for the ‘white slave traffic’ can only have one effect upon the minds and outlook of our English youth.
“Looking back over a number of years we see the hand of the Jew lying heavily upon the profession of music and this fact is chiefly evident in the plagiarism of many melodies. Ever the old masters are not sacred to these Jews.”
