The Center and Right parties in the Polish Sejm are seeking to set aside the present election laws, which made possible the election of so large a number of deputies representing the minority nationalities, and establish a “purely Polish” majority, violating the rights guaranteed under the Constitution, Deputy Isaac Gruenbaum charged in his speech Saturday opposing the vote of confidence for Premier Witos.
Deputy Gruenbaum was chosen by all minority groups to make the opposition speech preceding the first test vote since the assumption of office by the Witos Cabinet. The vote was 226against 171, giving Witos a majority of 55. The National Democrats, Christian Nationalists, and the Peasant Party deputies helped to swell the vote favoring Witos, while the Socialists and all minority deputies opposed.
