Two trials of former Nazi guards at the Dachau concentration camp which have been in progress during the past week have ended with most of the defendants receiving 18-month sentences. A third group of eight guards goes on trial today.

A number of DP groups, the Victims of Fascism organization and numerous UNRRA officials have objected to the light sentences. They claim that the authorities are not pressing the cases strenuously enough and therefore do not present much evidence against the prisoners. Several of the DP groups assert that they have many documents and affidavits which could be used to obtain heavier sentences. Officers in charge of the cases could not be reached for comment.
