The Guatemalan Government has given the German school in the city of Guatemala permission to reopen with the stipulation that Nazi control be removed, it was reported by Der Weg, Yiddish newspaper.
It had been closed by the Government after the Nazis in control decided at a conference to appeal to Berlin for instructions on what action to take in the face of a demand by Minister of Education Villacarta that control be turned over to the Liberal elements among the Germans.
The action of the Government followed agitation by Liberals, who had been ousted from control of the school in 1933, when Hitler came into power in Germany. They accused the Nazis of using the school to spread propaganda.
